Best Treats for Dogs with Sensitive Stomachs

When treats trigger tummy trouble, simpler is almost always the answer.

By The EveryPetHaven Kitchen team · August 4, 2026

If your dog gets loose stool, gas, or an upset belly from treats, you're not alone — and the fix is usually simplicity, not a fancy label.

Go single-ingredient. The more ingredients in a treat, the more chances for a trigger. A single, recognizable ingredient — plain chicken, sweet potato, salmon — makes it easy to see exactly what your dog is eating and to pinpoint what agrees with them.

Skip the usual culprits. Fillers, artificial colors and preservatives, high fat, and rich or fatty scraps are common stomach-upsetters. Clean, low-fat, gently-made treats are kinder to a sensitive gut.

Introduce slowly, one at a time. Add a new treat on its own for a few days before trying another, so if there's a reaction you know the cause.

Watch portions. Even a gentle treat in large amounts can upset digestion — keep treats a small part of the day. If tummy trouble is frequent or severe, that's a vet conversation, not a treat swap. Check foods against our guide first: everypethaven.com/blog/can-my-pet-eat/.

That's what we make at EveryPetHaven Kitchen: fresh, gently-dehydrated, single-ingredient treats — cut and sized for the pet, net weight on every bag. Launching on Kickstarter; join the list at everypethaven.com/kickstarter.

General guidance only — ask your vet about your pet's specific needs.
