Adventure Cat 101: 5 tips on how to hike with a cat Today Atlas and I are in the North Cascades in Washington hiking through one of the park's "pet friendly" trails, Thunder Knob.   I found this trail on the new @ORIJEN™ Pet Food Trails app! The app has: - Detailed pet friendly trails in over 100 parks across 50 states - Scenic stop & rest suggestions (we also did Diabo Lake!) - Trail stats & reviews - Completion stats where you can share memories & photos   So after training two cats to hike over the last 5 years, here are some tips: Do everything in small segments:   - Put the backpack out in your house so they get used to it (atlas likes to sleep in his) - Put the harness on them before meal times & put them on the other side of the room so they have to walk to get their food (while also getting used to the harness). Note: they will be SO DRAMATIC in the beginning but they grow out of it. - Bring them to a big open outdoor area in small increments of time until they get used to sounds and smells. - Then start them on a trail (try mornings when it's not too busy) - Bring a backpack your cat can retreat to if they get overwhelmed. And most importantly, be patient!!! Cat hiking usually looks like hike, stare at bugs, smell everything, plop down, repeat.   Make sure they have plenty of fuel too! Atlas really likes @Orijenpetfood Freeze Dried Cat Treats & the Chunks & Shred's wet food!   Note: you all know how picky Atlas has been over wet food the last three months & he LOVES this one for some extra hydration. Plus, @Orijenpetfood has the first five or more ingredients in every bag are real animal ingredients. That’s rare in pet food and makes a huge difference. #ORIJENPARTNER #ORIJENtrails AD

Some trail mates you meet by surprise. We came for an overnight hike — but left with sore leg, full hearts… and a story we’ll never ever forget. Dutch isn’t ours — he just lives near the trail and loves joining hikers. And for two full days, he was all in. He led the way, slept by our tent, waited when we slowed down, and made sure we smiled the whole time. Thank you Dutch — for the adventure, the loyalty, and the reminder that not all soulmates walk on two legs 🐾 🎥 Also Dean’s first overnight hike — safe to say this one will be hard to beat!! #dog #dogsoftiktok #trail
